Rockford Residents And Restaurants Celebrate Mother’s Day

ROCKFORD, IL (WIFR) – Just a year ago, most Rockford restaurants closed their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, now dining rooms are filling. Owners and customers say they couldn’t be happier.

“Happy Mother’s Day!” Franchesco employees said.

“Happy Mother’s Day, Mom, we love you. Thank you mothers, ”said Micah and Caleb Johnson.

After a year of virtual celebrations, some Rockford mothers are spending Mother’s Day with loved ones eating at their favorite restaurants.

“Oh, it’s wonderful, I’m so happy that we can get out of here,” said mom Denise Giakas.

“We made it through a tough year, so it’s very special. We’re grateful,” said Mama Heather Johnson.

At Francesco’s, the chefs serve a special brunch. Owner Benny Salamone says it feels good when families get together and enjoy each other’s company.

“You want to celebrate your family and everything with your mom and they’re just so happy to be out as a group and partying together,” said Salamone.
